Each year, Earth Day reminds us of the responsibility we all share in protecting and preserving our planet. While the surface area of the Earth may be 197 million square miles, sometimes the most meaningful changes begin in our own backyard. That’s why this Earth Day, the SAP NS2 team decided to roll up our sleeves and give back to the community in a tangible way—with a local park cleanup at the Dulles Station Community Park in partnership with the Fairfax Community Park Authority.

Why we give back
At SAP NS2, our corporate social responsibility program goes beyond business—it takes a deeper look into how we can come together for a bigger purpose. This shows itself in different ways, like giving back to the environment. Our Earth Day cleanup event was a way to translate our values into action while building camaraderie.
Maybe you’ve noticed at your own local park the impacts from littering and general wear and tear. By dedicating our efforts to a park cleanup, we hoped to alleviate some of the litter that gathers at our parks and restore the parks natural beauty. And we saw the impact right away, as we had two passersby thank us for our work!

Switching out keyboards for trash bags
On the morning of April 23, around 30 of our employees gathered at Dulles Station Community Park suited up with gloves, grabbers, trash bags, and a shared sense of purpose. Our partners at the Fairfax Community Park Authority guided us through the park as we tackled different areas—from the walking trails to the playgrounds to the more densely wooded areas. In just a couple hours, we collected dozens of trash bags and recyclables.

Cleaning up for years to come
Making an environmental impact doesn’t always require massive initiatives. Sometimes, the simple act of picking up a bottle or planting a flower can spark a ripple effect. Our Earth Day cleanup wasn’t a one-time event. In our second year partnering with Fairfax County Park Authority, we hope to carry on our tradition of cleaning up the spaces around our office for others to enjoy.
We’re proud of the work we do here at SAP NS2, and we’re even prouder of the way we come together for a greater purpose.
Let’s take care of mother nature, one day at a time!
