Each summer, SAP NS2 welcomes a talented group of interns who bring fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and curiosity to our mission-driven work of accelerating secure innovation.
The 2025 class came from a variety of backgrounds—cybersecurity, data science, marketing, supply chain management, customer success, and more. They jumped into real projects, built technical skills, and grew professionally in our “learn it all” culture.
“This year’s program featured our largest intern class yet, representing diverse talent from across the country,” says Katie Shaputis, Senior Recruiter and Intern Program Manager. “The projects our interns worked on not only had an immediate impact on the business but also set the stage for future innovation and collaboration, demonstrating their creativity, drive, and potential for real-world contribution.”
Why they chose their paths
Though their fields vary, our interns share a genuine passion for their work.
For some, curiosity started early, like Catherine Gelber, a Cornell senior in information science. Catherine remembers taking apart iPhones as a kid “just to see how they worked.” Maggie Kirstan, who’s studying advertising and public relations at Loyola University Chicago has always been intrigued with how commercials shape cultural trends.
Many were inspired by real-world challenges. Anthony Hailey, a cybersecurity major at George Washington University, loves how his field constantly evolves and keeps him learning. For Grace Crum, a supply chain management major at the University of Tennessee, seeing the pandemic’s impact on global logistics sparked her interest in solving complex problems.
Meaningful work, real growth
At SAP NS2, our interns aren’t just observers, they’re active contributors.
Anthony deepened his cybersecurity skills with hands-on data visualization and log analysis in Splunk.
Clay Jones, a recent Norfolk State University graduate, supported the SecOps team on digital forensics and incident response.
Eleanor Fox, a political science major at the University of Virginia, helped create enablement sessions and SOPs for the Customer Success team.
Grace streamlined software license tracking for the Cloud Asset and Risk Management team.
Hailey Moore, who’s working on her master’s in information systems at the University of Maryland, College Park, supported services’ go-to-market projects while sharpening her skills in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP HANA Studio.
Lydia Lyons, a recent MBA graduate from Salisbury University, analyzed outage and maintenance data for the Customer Success and Support team.
Maggie embraced the creative challenge of revitalizing and maintaining the SAP NS2 X (formerly Twitter) account and developing an employee-driven LinkedIn campaign.
Catherine built dashboards and created client presentations for the SAP Cloud Application Services team.
And Fiza Sukhera, a senior studying marketing and information science at University of Maryland, College Park, supported upcoming product releases, seeing firsthand how “everything ties back to supporting real business outcomes and mission-driven work.”
Alongside technical skills, interns strengthened professional skills like communication, collaboration, and how to navigate a professional setting. Eleanor says a conversation with an SAP NS2 leader taught her that: “Success in corporate America isn’t solo. That really encouraged me to connect more with colleagues, because winning means having a strong team behind you.”
The power of connection and community
For many, the most memorable part of their summer was the people. They had the unique opportunity to meet with our CEO, Harish Luthra, who provided invaluable insights into the company’s vision and leadership. They found a community that welcomed questions, encouraged growth, and made them feel part of something bigger.
Anthony appreciated the chance to learn from teammates, mentors, and leadership, saying he’ll miss “the connections I’ve made with the people here.”
Clay notes he loves our “learn it all” culture. “In working with my colleagues on the SecOps team, I can see this culture runs deep at SAP NS2.”
Maggie, interning remotely on the Marketing team, was surprised by how connected she felt, sharing, “Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and supportive.”
Catherine also valued the support, noting, “I love how willing everyone is to help. I’ve reached out to various teams with questions about how to approach my career, and they’ve provided great insight.”
Fiza says the best part has been “the people, hands down. I’ve loved being in an environment where I feel comfortable asking questions, taking initiative, and being part of something bigger than myself.”
Eilyse Scanlon, a former intern who now supports the program as a full-time recruiter, reflects on its impact: “Watching the program grow has been truly transformational. I experienced firsthand how well-rounded and opportunity-rich this internship is. It’s a privilege to give back to a program that helped shape my career.”
Looking ahead
The 2025 interns brought energy, fresh ideas, and a willingness to learn, and they’ll leave with real-world experience, new skills, and lasting connections.
Fiza summed it up well, reflecting on how the internship showed her the importance of roles that blend strategy, data, and teamwork: “I’ve realized how much I enjoy strategy-driven roles that involve problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.”
We’re proud to support the next generation of professionals and grateful for the impact this year’s interns have made on our teams, our customers, and our culture.
