A strategic shift in support of justice
The mission of the Department of Justice (DOJ) is to uphold the rule of law, keep our country safe, and protect civil rights. Achieving this mission requires strong operational support behind the scenes.
To modernize its mission-support services, the DOJ’s Justice Management Division (JMD) launched a strategy to retire redundant legacy systems, maximize shared-service platforms, and consolidate financial, acquisition, and reporting functions into a centralized “one-stop shop.”
Working with SAP NS2 and cBEYONData, the DOJ replaced its legacy on-premises solution with an advanced data and analytics platform for financial management, budget formulation, and personnel planning.
This new platform – JEDI-NG (Justice Enterprise Data Interface – Next Generation) – runs on SAP NS2 in AWS GovCloud, providing unified access to the DOJ’s financial data from a single, secure location.

Built on SAP HANA, SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Data Services, and SAP Analytics Cloud, JEDI-NG gives the DOJ real-time visibility into budget formulation, financial execution, and performance – consolidating 30+ years of data into a single, integrated platform.
Moving to a secure, FISMA Moderate–rated cloud environment managed by SAP NS2 eliminated costly, siloed systems while standardized data formats increased availability, promoted cross-component communication, and enabled deeper insights.
For example, one DOJ component eliminated reliance on 32 disparate Excel spreadsheets, improving oversight of its $9.4M annual budget.
