Alex Li is an IT Data & Analytics Specialist at SAP NS2. After starting his post-grad career in a startup environment, he joined SAP NS2 looking for a place where he could learn from experienced mentors, take on larger-scale projects, and grow in a more structured environment. Today, he works closely with clients and project teams to support data and analytics initiatives.

Finding the right environment to grow

I’m a second-generation immigrant, born and raised in Philadelphia, and recently graduated from the lovely Temple University. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with friends and always enjoyed trying new experiences, whether trying an exotic meal or listening to new music. The fun is always amplified when sharing experiences with other people, and that sense of community is something I looked for in my work.

I first came across SAP early in my college career, and it stayed on my radar as a company I wanted to be part of. Coming from a startup, I knew I wanted a more established company where I could be mentored and challenged. SAP NS2 felt like the perfect fit for that next step!

Giving people back their agency

“Being part of such a talented team has broadened my perspective, and I have a much deeper appreciation for the impact of our work.”

Alex Li

Moving into a more structured corporate environment was a big adjustment for me. I had to learn how to communicate ideas more clearly, contribute to meetings with confidence, and better understand how projects move from planning to execution.

Early on, there were moments where I questioned whether I was contributing enough, especially working alongside people with significantly more experience. Listening to conversations around major customer engagements felt surreal.
What helped me through was asking questions, staying open to feedback, leaning on my mentors, and reminding myself that confidence builds overtime through repetition and experience, not all at once.

Today, I work directly with many of the same customers whose conversations I once supported behind the scenes, just listening and learning along the way.

Being part of such a talented team has broadened my perspective, and I have a much deeper appreciation for the impact of our work.

5 essential skills:

Everyday impact

One of the most meaningful milestones so far has been my first project reaching the go-live stage alongside my teammate Yunus Bidav. It may sound simple but felt like a real full-circle moment that represented everything that led up to it: training, certifications, preparation, and close collaboration with customers. Seeing our product launch, made all of that work feel much more real.

What makes those experiences even more rewarding is the people around me. I’ve been fortunate to work with a team that is not only incredibly knowledgeable but genuinely invested in helping me learn and grow.

Even outside of my immediate team, I’ve enjoyed networking through events in Newtown Square and virtually, connecting me to the company as a whole. It’s truly an environment where I feel comfortable taking on new challenges and continuing to build confidence every day.
